Tie Rod

Tie rods are critical steering linkage components connecting the steering rack to the steering knuckles, enabling directional control. These threaded rods, typically featuring left-hand and right-hand threads for length adjustment, transmit steering force and allow for wheel alignment. Inner and outer tie rod ends incorporate ball joints allowing for angular movement, while boots protect these joints from contamination. Construction utilizes hardened steel for durability, and jam nuts secure adjustments preventing loosening due to vehicle vibration. Replacement is typically performed in pairs to maintain symmetrical steering geometry.
