This part’s job is pretty straightforward – it’s a pathway for clean air to get from the air filter box, through the mass airflow sensor, and right into the throttle body, and ultimately the engine. It’s basically a duct, designed to handle a specific volume of air and maintain a good seal. It’s usually made of a flexible rubber or plastic material, so it can handle engine movement and vibrations without cracking. Think of it as a key piece of the breathing system for your engine. The engine needs a constant supply of air to mix with fuel for combustion. This pipe is the last leg of that clean air delivery.
