Radiator Fan

Radiator fans are engine cooling system components used to increase airflow through the radiator core, independent of vehicle speed. These fans are typically mounted either directly to the radiator or within the radiator shroud, drawing or pushing air to dissipate heat from the engine coolant. Electric fans utilize a motor and fan blades, controlled by the engine control unit via temperature sensors, while viscous clutch fans are mechanically driven by the engine. Fan design varies by vehicle, incorporating blade geometry optimized for airflow and noise reduction, and materials like plastic or aluminum for weight and durability. Proper operation is critical to prevent engine overheating, especially during low-speed operation or high ambient temperatures.
