Throttle Position Sensor

Throttle Position Sensors (TPS) are crucial components in modern engine management systems, monitoring the angular position of the throttle plate. Typically mounted on the throttle body, the TPS converts throttle position into a variable voltage signal transmitted to the Engine Control Unit (ECU). This signal directly informs the ECU of driver demand for power, influencing fuel delivery and ignition timing. Sensors utilize a potentiometer or contactless Hall-effect technology for accurate measurement. Redundancy is increasingly common with dual-element designs for enhanced reliability and fail-safe operation.
