Step Plates

Step plates are rigid, typically metal or polymer panels mounted laterally along a vehicle’s rocker panels, bridging the gap between the front and rear wheels. They provide an intermediate stepping surface to facilitate cab access, particularly for lifted or high-riding vehicles. Construction commonly utilizes steel, aluminum, or durable thermoplastic materials, often with textured surfaces for grip. Mounting is achieved via chassis-specific brackets and robust fasteners, requiring direct bolting to the vehicle’s frame or body-on-frame structure. Load ratings vary by manufacturer and design, but are engineered to withstand typical occupant weight and movement. Protective coatings, such as powder coat or e-coat, are standard to resist corrosion and environmental damage.
