16.00009 DT Starter

Basically, the starter’s job is to crank your engine so it can start running on its own. It takes power from the battery and uses it to turn the engine over a few times until the combustion process kicks in. It's a pretty simple idea, but it needs to deliver a lot of power in a short amount of time. After the engine is running, the starter disengages—it’s not meant to run constantly. Think of it as the initial kickstart for everything. Without a working starter, your engine just won’t turn over, and the car won't start. It's directly connected to the engine and the battery, completing that electrical circuit to get things moving. It’s a key component in the whole starting system. Well, pretty obvious, right? No start, no go. A failing starter will usually give you warnings though. You’ll notice if it’s taking longer and longer to crank the engine, or if you hear a clicking sound but the engine doesn’t turn over. Sometimes it might work intermittently. It's a fairly robust part, but it does take a beating every time you start the car. If it fails completely you’ll be stranded. We carry a good selection of starters, you can often find a good one at Fixparts Online, and replacing it is usually a straightforward repair. DT stands by its products: Starter (MPN 16.00009) includes a 12-month warranty!
