Piston rings essentially seal the gap between the piston and the cylinder wall inside your engine. There are usually a few different types – a compression ring, an oil control ring, and sometimes an intermediate ring. The compression ring, as the name suggests, focuses on keeping combustion pressure inside the cylinder where it belongs, so you get the power you need.
