3Q0201607B Volkswagen extractor

This little guy’s job is to help pull fuel from the tank and send it to the engine. It's basically a component within the fuel pump assembly that creates suction. It doesn’t push the fuel, it helps draw it up. Think of it like a strong straw helping to get liquid where it needs to go. It works alongside the fuel pump itself, and sometimes they’re sold together, but the extractor is the piece responsible for initially getting things moving. It's a key part of the fuel delivery system. The fuel tank has fuel, the pump needs to get it, and the extractor helps make that happen. It’s located inside the fuel pump module, submerged in the gas tank. It's not something you’ll see directly without taking the tank down or at least accessing the pump module. It gets power from your vehicle’s electrical system to operate, creating that suction. If this thing goes bad, you’ll notice if your car has trouble starting, or if it’s sputtering while you drive. It can cause a loss of power, or even prevent the engine from running at all. A failing extractor means the engine isn’t getting enough fuel. It’s a pretty critical component, honestly. You can sometimes find these sold individually – we carry a good selection at Fixparts Online if you’re looking – but sometimes it’s more cost – effective to replace the whole fuel pump assembly, depending on the vehicle and the price. It acts like a shield preventing fuel starvation, so keeping it in good shape is important for reliable engine operation. Easy returns and support: Extractor (MPN 3Q0201607B) comes with a 12-month warranty!
