Airbags

Airbags are passive vehicle safety devices designed to rapidly inflate during a moderate-to-severe collision to cushion occupants and reduce impact forces. These systems utilize a crash sensor network to trigger the inflation of nylon fabric bags, filled by gas generated from a pyrotechnic propellant. Airbags are strategically located within the steering wheel, dashboard, seats, and side curtains to provide frontal, side, and rollover protection. Modern systems incorporate multiple stage inflation and vent ports to tailor restraint levels based on crash severity and occupant position. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are generated by airbag system components to indicate malfunctions within the sensor network, inflator circuits, or module itself.
