About

Wabco 4410320380 Inductive Sensor

Description

This Wabco Inductive Sensor (MPN: 4410320380) is a critical component within a vehicle's Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), used to detect wheel speed and provide data to the ABS control module. It’s designed for robust performance in demanding environments. The sensor features an OE specification ensuring compatibility and reliability, and operates effectively within a temperature range of -40°C to +180°C. Its IP 69K ISO 20653 protection class guarantees resistance to dust, water, and other contaminants, while the radial version and bushing mounting provide secure and accurate readings. Dimensions are 20 x 57 x 2530 mm.

Key Features & Benefits

These sensors basically read speed. Not necessarily how fast the car is going overall, but how fast each wheel is turning. They do this without actually touching anything – that’s where the “inductive” part comes in. They create a magnetic field and detect changes as a toothed ring, called a reluctor ring or tone wheel, spins near it. The faster the wheel spins, the faster the changes they detect, and that sends a signal to the car’s computer. The biggest job these have is feeding information to your anti – lock braking system – that’s where the ABS part comes in. The computer uses the wheel speed data to figure out if a wheel is locking up during braking. If it detects one wheel slowing down way faster than the others, it knows you might be losing control and will pulse the brakes on that wheel to help keep it rolling. They also feed information to other systems, like traction control and stability control, which rely on knowing how each wheel is behaving.

Symptoms, Risks & Replacements

Well, if one of these sensors goes bad, your ABS light will almost certainly come on. It might not affect your normal driving right away, but your ABS, traction control, and stability control will be disabled. You won’t get that extra help stopping in a skid. You’ll notice if you're driving and hit the brakes hard, especially in slippery conditions – things will feel a lot less controlled. Getting it fixed is important for safety.
