About

Wabco 4324070150 Muffler

Description

The Wabco 4324070150 is a muffler designed for use in air dryer applications within air brake systems. This device reduces noise levels to 70 dB(A) at 13 bar and 7 meters, ensuring quieter operation. It features snap-on contour ports and is designed to OE specification, offering a reliable and effective air processing solution. The silencer measures 71 x 87 x 87 mm and is engineered for operation within a temperature range of -40°C to +80°C, and a maximum operating pressure of 18.5 bar.

Key Features & Benefits

This muffler’s job is to take the exhaust air coming from the air dryer – that's the part that gets rid of moisture and oil – and quiet it down. It’s basically a silencer. It’s got a series of baffles inside, kind of like a maze, that the air has to flow through. This slows the air down and breaks up the pulses, which is what creates the noise. It also helps prevent water and oil from being ejected straight out into the atmosphere. Think of it as part of a system that keeps the air clean and the noise level down. The air dryer cleans the air for the brakes, and this muffler makes sure that process doesn’t sound like a jackhammer going off under there. It’s connected to the air dryer on one side, and usually vents to the atmosphere underneath the vehicle. It's not directly involved in stopping the vehicle, it’s maintaining the air system’s efficiency and keeping things quiet.

Symptoms, Risks & Replacements

A failing muffler isn’t going to make your brakes not work immediately, but it’s something you’ll notice if you ignore it. You’ll get a really loud hissing or puffing sound coming from underneath the truck whenever the brakes are applied or the air system is working. It can also mean moisture and oil are being blown around, potentially damaging other components over time. Plus, a really loud air brake system isn't going to pass inspection. Honestly, you can find these pretty easily. We carry a good selection at Fixparts Online, and other auto parts stores will too. It’s a fairly straightforward replacement, but if you're not comfortable with air brake systems, it’s always best to have a professional take a look.
